A blustery yet warm summer day weren’t the ideal conditions for a fish but decided to give it a go anyway. The fishing was slow as we had reached spot on low tide. The fish were not on the bite, so I decided to change over to the squid jig without much luck. My brother joined us not long after and his first cast and about two jigs later, he was able to bring up this small calamari:
My brother advised me to cast at a different angle but I was only successful in hitting a snag. Using my plastics rod, I only had 6lb braid on and was a certain loss. It was one of my new Yamashita jigs at about $15 *ouch*. Just goes to show, always use some heavy braid when jigging, preferably 20lb or heavier.
